Hanna has had a great start to her seventh grade school year. She’s been working away each day in all of her subjects and seems to have eased back into school mode seamlessly. Whew! Here are some highlights…
SCIENCE
We all had fun watching Hanna conduct an experiment from Apologia General Science on chemical reactions using water, cabbage leaves, vinegar, baking soda, a balloon and a 2 liter bottle.

I have to admit, I was skeptical that the balloon would blow all the way up, but it did—really big! I think Hanna was too, because she looked pretty surprised when the balloon kept getting bigger and bigger. It got even bigger than in this last picture below.
The boys (and my mom) enjoyed watching and learning too.
Math
Hanna is wrapping up TT Math 7 and will be beginning TT Pre-Algebra week after next. She is also continuing in Life of Fred Pre-Algebra with Biology.
She is almost through with Basic Winston Grammar. She will begin Easy Grammar next. Writing and Latin are starting off on a good note. History still remains her favorite subject. She enjoys not only reading her history texts, but any fiction or nonfiction history I throw her way. I have some fun history projects assigned to her over the next 6 weeks and can’t wait to share them upon completion.
Art
As always, Hanna can’t get enough of art, crafting and sewing. She is constantly working on creations, drawings, crafts or asking to help me with something. She is beginning formal art classes this week and is excited about them. In addition to those she still wants to continue to complete projects from our Usborne Art Treasury book throughout the school year. This week she chose Kadinsky Circles. Even though this is such a simple project I always love it. It turns out so pretty, and hers is super colorful. I just love the way oil pastels and watercolors look together. I will be framing this to go up alongside Joe’s for sure!
It’s great to be back into the swing of school each day. I was a little apprehensive about starting back. We had such a fun summer and I was sad to see it end, but our school year has gotten off to a good start and I am beginning to see all of the memories we are making and know that I have so much fun learning planned for the kids this year that it’s going to be ok :-).
I’m proud of the effort and self-discipline Hanna has demonstrated these first couple weeks. She’s worked hard and has had a wonderful attitude.
